But it’s when you feel least thankful that you are most in need of what gratitude can give you. ~ Oprah I’m definitely a planner. I like to know what’s coming. It’s a gift, but on the flip side I can also get a little stressed when I get too many things going at once. I have a confession. Last week I got myself all worked up into a frenzy. I had errands to run, groceries to buy, meetings to prepare for, proposals to finish and a to-do list to rival all lists. Know what came next? You guessed it. I got totally stressed out, and then it hit me like a ton of bricks. It wasn't that I had too much to do, and it wasn't my full schedule that was stressing me. It was the lens I was using to look at life. It was my perspective that was making me feel overwhelmed.
Do you ever have days or weeks where it feels like the whole world is sitting on your shoulders? You are wife, mother, daughter, co-worker, boss, friend, social event planner, and all around solver of all problems. If you feel like you have more roles than one human should, know this… There is hope! Want to know the cure? I see you nodding your head and saying, “yes please”. It’s found in resting AND being thankful. Actively cultivating gratefulness is the best way to change our perspective. We ultimately become happier and healthier when we are simply...grateful. Why not give it a try?
Now, go rest and be thankful, Tammy K. Johnson |
